New stuff from Models Own, Color Club and Orly!!

Before I start I just want to say Happy Rosh Hashanah and Happy National Coffee Day!

Ok first up, Models Own Beetlejuice collection!

How sick are these?!! It's pretty necessary to enlarge this picture to get to see the full details.

Left to right:
Golden Green- fresh energetic acid
Pinky Brown- warm rusty pink
Purple Blue- vibrant punch of fuchsia indigo
Aqua Violet- true sky shimmer
Emerald Black- bold-blackened midnight peacock

These are freaking amazing, I cannot get over it, even though the names are seriously lacking. Five new multi-tonal, multi-chrome polishes. These are going to come out in November and will be priced £5. That's about $7.85 US, which obviously isn't cheap. Also international shipping is £9.95 and you need to make a purchase of at least £20, which comes out to $47.01. So it's going to get a little pricey to get these polishes, but I'm thinking of just sucking it up and getting them all, kind of an early christmas/ hanukkah/ new years present to myself, that's if they don't sell out. I'm not sure I could live without them actually lol

Next, Color Club Backstage Pass collection!

Also, really awesome.

Left to right:
Take the Stage- gold glitter with silver flakes
Wish Upon a Rock- star-multi-colored glitter with purple
Backstage Pass- silver and purple hex glitter
Platinum Record- silver glitter
It's a Hit!- big purple glitter
Fame & Fortune- red base with silver flakes

This is a crazy amount of glitter and I love it. Check out Color Club's Facebook to get close ups and swatches of each of the colors. I'm pretty sure these are already available, or they will be available in October.

And now for three new Orly collections!

Birds of a Feather collection

Left to right:

Fowl Play- Purple Sparkle
Lucky Duck- Green Crème
Sea Gurl- Grey Shimmer
Nite Owl- Beige Shimmer

A modern and daring twist on standard fall shades, Birds of a Feather is reminiscent of stunning bird feathers gathered from around the globe. Each gorgeous, iridescent shade is inspired by one of nature’s most vibrant avian species. The bold tones and inventive textures keep nails a few steps ahead of the rest. With striking hues ranging from deep purple flecked with fuchsia to shimmering natural beige, nails are free spirited and inspired, reflecting the optimistic nature of a bird in flight. The unique look and texture offered by Birds of a Feather further advances ORLY as the leader in nail innovation, taking color to a higher place.

The afterglow of duo chrome reflection and high intensity pigments create an eye catching effect in the Mineral FX Collection. The innovator in color and texture, ORLY is the first to create a nail polish that provides high impact, prismatic color infused with minerals. The daring color palette reflects smooth, metallic shimmers embellished with holographic sparkle and burnished gold undertones accented with ultra rich jeweled hues. Mineral FX draws inspiration for these shades from the richness and depth of the tones found in precious metals and rare minerals.

Mineral FX includes the following natural raw materials:

  • Fluorophlogopites (crystals) allow for a shimmering color transformation
  • Glass particles, precisely shaped and sized, create a radiant, luminous effect
  • Mica, silica, and striking pigments deliver the two tone, multidimensional effect in each shade
The Mineral FX Collection Lacquers will be available starting November 2011 for $10.00 each. ORLY Nail Lacquers and Treatment products are available at orlybeauty.com, Sally Beauty, Ulta and other purveyors of beauty throughout the U.S. and in over 100 countries worldwide.

Ma Cherie- Red Crème
Oui- Purple Multicolor Shimmer

Wet N' Wild Behind Closed Doors

I got this polish and another one I'm saving for October lol from the Wet n' Wild On The Prowl collection for halloween! Now, I love halloween more than I can even express in words, so when I see something halloween related, I need it. No questions asked.

One coat of Behind Closed Doors over one coat of Sinful Colors Black on Black. I did a semi-crappy job because I did the base coat at like 11pm in half lighting and then it smudged and stuff, so sorry about that. But anyway, Behind Closed Doors has a blacked jellyish base and has small round red glitter and large red hexagonal glitter. Does this look familiar? Yep, looks just like Deborah Lippmann Ruby Red Slippers! A cheap alternative. It's only $1.99! This will be going on the dupe list that I'm working on, plus many others. So keep an eye out for that.

Back to the polish, there a few irregular pieces that just look like they were supposed to hexagons but were cut strangely. Also, sometimes the polish isn't very evenly distributed so you'll have a lot of glitter on one side of your nail but not much on the other, so just be aware of that.

But look at this! Just my luck I got a really wonky brush. It's bent! I have no idea how this would even happen lol looking at it kind of makes me laugh though. It doesn't really affect putting the polish on too much because not a full coverage polish.

Other than this, I didn't find any problems with the polish at all. I actually went back to where I bought this and they were all sold out! So, I'm happy I got it when I did. If you want it, you may have to search around!

Flawless Skin- In your 20's...30's...40's

In just 20s....

During this age you can try all the makeup looks you want and wear different colors. Your skin is at it's best therefore you can try different trends. Play around with bold eyeshadows, and lipsticks.

Skip the heavy moisturizers because you don't need the extra moisturizers. This may just clog up your pores and is for older skin.

Of course you should wear a light moisturizer with SPF because you have to protect your skin from the sun while you are still young.

Products to try:

Murad Energizing Pomegranate Moisturizer SPF 15

In your 30s....

You might start seeing first signs of aging, therefore you must be mindful of not exaggerating those lines by wearing too much foundation. Try pearly shimmers to highlight the top of your cheekbones. Also try bold peachy or coral cream blush on the apples of your cheeks.

Skip bright eye colors instead try colors that compliment you eyes and skin. You can still try winged eyeliner, smokey eyes with gray, navy, chocolate or deep eggplant.

Products to try:

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20
Benefit Cosmetics High Beam Highlighter
Nars Cream in Cactus Flower

In your 40s....

Your makeup should be subtle and natural looking. It should enhances your natural features. Also wear primer in order to avoid your makeup getting  in your creases.

Skip dark eyeshadows and lipsticks. A smokey eye might not work at this age because it might make your eye look sunken in. Also deep lipstick shades especially matte ones, will look very harsh and will make you look older. Try natural colors with a bit of a shine.

Products you can try:

Bobbi Brown Brow Pencil
Prep + Prime Line Filler
NYX Slime Lip Pencil

Fall Trends: Military Green!

I've been looking around for a military green and can't seem to find one... not that I'm looking that hard, because they are everywhere for fall! So, on a whim, I decided to mix up my own.

Sorry about the blurriness, and you'll probably have to enlarge this. But yeah, I used Sally Hansen Xtreme Wear in Green with Envy and then I mixed in a few drops of OPI You Don't Know Jacques. It came out this pretty cool olive color. It's a little darker in real life than in the picture. It's super dark right now so I couldn't get an accurate picture. Also, it's super shiny because it's still pretty wet. I like it though. I'll try to take a better picture in the sunlight and show that to you guys in my next post.

Nubar Jeans

So, I'm on the verge of created a full scale dupe list... and this came to my attention today.

Nubar Jeans! Does this remind you of anything? Chanel Les Jeans de Chanel maybe? Yes,
dupes. There are dupes for pretty much every other Chanel polish, it was only a matter of
time.

From left to right:
Faded Jeans- light blue shimmer
Boyfriend Jeans- medium blue creme
Dark Wash Jeans- dark blue creme

As far as I can tell, the only difference between the two collections color wise is that the lightest
blue in this collection is a shimmer, while all the Chanel ones are cremes. Also, this is
obviously a good amount cheaper than Chanel. Each Chanel polish is $29, while this pack of three is only $19.99.

How to make your own nude nail polish!

Yay DIY! In my last post I said that i would show you guys how I made my nude polish, so here we go.

What you need:
1. nail polish
2. tooth pick
3. somewhere to mix your colors, like a palate

These are the colors I used. Left to right: OPI You Don't Know Jacques,Sinful Colors Snow Me White, Sally Hansen Instra-Dri Lightening, Sally Hansen X-treme Wear Cherry Red

First, start with a white polish. If you want to do a full manicure, make sure you put enough polish so you'll have enough for at least one coat per nail. This was about four drops, just to do a test color.

Then put in a few drops of brown. Make sure not to use to much or it will darken the polish too much.

Next, a drop of red.

And finally a drop of yellow.

Now it's time to mix it all up with your toothpick!

And there you have it! Custom nude nail polish! You can adjust the color by adding more white, brown, red or yellow, depending on your skin tone or preference.

If you want a whole bottle, you can also mix colors into the white nail polish, straight into the bottle, but it is harder to judge how much to use and it is harder to mix. So, you may want to pour out the contents of the white and mix your color then pour it back into the bottle. If you do it this way, make sure to mix your polishes in something sturdy. The nail polish will eat away at plastic cups so stay away from those.

After I did this, I did do a whole bottle of it (obviously). It came out a little bit lighter than the shade above.

MUD Face Primer Review

First I will do the review on the MUD Face Primer. I first used this product while I was attending my beauty class at MUD. This was one of the products we had to buy and I am glad we did. This face primer goes for $26.00 but trust me it last a very long time because you don't need a lot of it.
So far I have used a few face primers and I must say this one is my favorite because  it works so great. I have combination skin and I can get oily around the t-zone especially with warm weather. However, when I use this primer my face makeup looks fresh the entire day and I just have a natural glow. Like I have said before I do not like when makeup looks super dry or even matte, I prefer a natural look.
But let me make something clear. When you apply your makeup it may look a little on the matte side if your apply powder over it. However, this will leave within a little time after your skin sets the makeup in. After this your skin will look glowy unless you have very dry skin, then just skip the powder all together.
Back to the MUD Face Primer, I also love this primer because you can mix it with your foundation to make it lighter. Therefore, you will have a 2 in 1. To do this just mix the little foundation you are going to use with a dot or two of the primer depending on how much foundation you are going to use. I do not recommend mixing them before hand. In class we would always mix our cream foundation with the primer and it worked great. By the way, when you mix it don't be scared if it looks a little weird, that's normal.
The only downfall to this product is that you can only get it at the MUD Shops or online. I actually am in need of a new one. Here is the direct link to the Face Primer :

Tribal Nails!

I've been meaning to do a tribal pattern for a long time, but just haven't gotten around to it, but recently I've been pretty bored with my vast nail polish collection so I decided to finally take some time out (while I was supposed to doing a paper...procrastination to the max) and actually do it. Yay!

This one looks a little dark.. I don't know why. My phone usually hates me when I take pictures with it.

Anyway, the base coat is actually a custom nude shade that I created in my kitchen and I do have tutorial for it that I will put up as my next post. For the details I used OPI Alpine Snow, Sinful Colors Black on Black and MAC Mischievous Mint (love it so much). Oh and I used one of the art club detail polishes in white. For everything else I used detail brushes that I have.

So I first did a base coat, then one coat of my nude shade. Then I did all the details, Mischievous Mint took more than one coat wherever you see it other than the dots. After I did all the detail work I did a thick coat os Seche Vite to smooth everything out. I really like how it came out. What do you guys think? Also, If you want a tutorial on how to do any of these patterns I can do a video.

Beauty Q & A and tips

What's the best way to wear lipstick when you're lips are chapped?

Apply a balm, like Aquaphor $5, and then apply the lipstick on top. When your lips are chapped avoid wearing any long wear lips sticks because they dry up your lips even more.

How can I cover my tattoo?

You will need a heavy coverage concealer that matches your skin tone, a cream one would work best. Then, blend it with a makeup sponge around the edges. Next, mist on a spray foundation to give it a flawless look. Finally, use a translucent powder to set the makeup.

How can I freshen up my mascara without it clumping up?

Use a clean disposable wand and dip it in a eye makeup remover to remove clumps and flakes. Then apply a fresh coat of mascara.

My eyelashes are falling out, what now?

Eyelashes naturally shed, however if you notice many of your lashes fall out then you should try a lash conditioner. Use a conditioner such as like RapidLash Eyelash Renewal Serum, $49.95.

How can I conceal my scars?

You have to try a concealer such as Cover FX, which is water resistant.

Tips:

Use makeup-remover swabs to get the perfect eyeliner swoop
Swab Plus has ones that you snap in the middle and then it moisturizes  the tip to allow you to clean up your eyeliner.

Try Laura Mercier Secret Brightening Powder $22 in order to minimize under eyes.

Use a foundation brush to blend cream blush more naturally.

Forever 21 Love & Beauty Nail Polish: Light Green

Here is the bottle. The shape is exactly the same shape as LA Girls polishes and some of the colors are exactly the same. I'm not sure if it because LA Girls makes polishes for them or if Forever 21 copies them. Anyway, you can see that this polish is a sheer light green base that is jam packed with FLECKS! I love fleck polishes, but unfortunately I don't have many. The flecks here really remind me of the Nubar 2010 that I love.

Oh and I just wanted to comment that this polish is called Light Green, which is just lame and uncreative. Sad.

(sunlight)
Along with the multichrome flecks, there is also lots of light green micro glitter that makes is super shiny.

(shade)
This is one coat over Zoya Cynthia (same thing above). You can see how the flecks look this red color.

(shade)
And here you can see the blue/green of the flecks. You'll have to enlarge this one though. It also flashes yellow and orange, which was hard to capture on camera.

You may have to enlarge all of the pictures to see that this polish turns Cynthia into a hunter green color that is just awesome and perfect for fall. I really like this polish, but the light green base is kind of iffy just because you may not be able to layer it over a wide range of colors.

Until next time,
The Wicked
