Target Beauty Bag!

A month or so ago, I entered to get a beauty bag from Target. They were giving away a bunch of them without purchase through Facebook and I was able to get my hands on one!

Here is the actual bag it came in. It's really cute! It's a London Soho New York bag, it is a little small for all the junk I usually take with me lol But cute nonetheless.

Top left: This is a little packet of Simple cleansing facial wipes. I've been seeing a bunch of commercials about this brand recently and wanted to try them out, so I'm super happy these came in the bag.
Top right: L'oreal Magic Lumi Light Infusing Primer sample. On the back it says you can use it all over the face for subtle luminosity, bled on cheeks and under eyes for a highlighted affect and it works on all skin tones and types. I'll probably be testing it as a cheek highlight because there is so little of it.
Bottom: Coupons! A booklet of beauty coupons for products featured in the bag and also others, like new Sally Hansen magnetic polish! Really pumped about this!

Left: Nivea Extended Moisture daily lotion. I love lotion and I'm always open to finding a new favorite.
Middle: Neutrogena Visibly Bright daily facial cleanser. Love this because I've been on and off considering getting a cleanser but never followed through with it. Also, Neutrogena is the brand of facial lotion that I use, and it is literally the only one that doesn't make me break out, so I'm excited this is Neutrogena.
Right: Pantene Flat to Volume conditioner. This is part of their fine hair solutions line. My hair is kind of fine, but I have a lot of it so volume it never really a problem for me. I'll probably be testing this out just because lol

That's it! Overall, uhmmm I love this! It was awesome of Target to give these out with no purchase and the best part is that the samples are actually really nice sizes (besides the Magic Lumi). I'm excited to try literally everything out!

Makeup Products & Tips For Warm Weather

Light Makeup:
Avoid wearing layers of foundation because this will only make you look oily because of the warm weather. Use foundations that are lightweight like a mineral loose powder or a tinted moisturizer.

Don’t skip the Primer:
This is the time to put that primer to use if you don’t use it any other time. The primer will help stop any shininess and will help your makeup stay in place throughout the day.

Set your makeup:
Use a translucent powder to set your makeup, this will lock the color and will also keep it from getting shiny.

Waterproof mascara:
Some women have runny mascara due to sweat or from beach or pool, therefore using a waterproof mascara will help avoid those problems.

Sparkly Lids-

Try a shimmery champagne eye shadow, this will make your eyes pop and will still look very natural.

Bronzer-
The bronzer will give you a glow and a little color without being dramatic. Of course use a color that is not too dark for you to avoid looking orange.

Products for warm weather:

L'Oreal Bare Naturale Powder Mineral Foundation SPF 19 Sunscreen

MAC Lipglass

Laura Mercier Tinted Moisturizer SPF 20

Make Up For Ever Aqua Smoky Lash
Bare Escentuals Prime Time

Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer

Orly Feel The Vibe Collection for Summer 2012

New summer collection from Orly!

Left to right:

Melt your Popsicle

Dayglo

Skinny Dip

Glowstick

Beach Cruiser

After party

Mainly neons for summer, which are perfect.. but the black and white kind of confuse me. I think the collection would have been fine without them, but if you imagine it without the black and white, three out of the four look very similar to the Happy Go Lucky collection that came out late last summer (I believe). I guess we'll have to see how these turn out in person!

Milani One Coat Glitter in Twinkle!

The other half of my BOGO1/2 Milani purchase

pinky- three coats of Twinkle over black
ring- two coats of Twinkle over black
middle- one coat of Twinkle over black
pointer- one coat of Tinkle

Twinkle is little blue hex glitter and small, round purple glitter in a clear base. As you can see it is kind of far from a one coat glitter. I did take a picture of about four coats on its own, but it was horrible and I didn't have the heart to put you through that. All I have to say is that it takes at least three thick coats and maneuvering to get it to be completely opaque.

Other than the lack of being one coat, the formula on it was good and dried pretty fast. I like the colors in the glitter, it's pretty similar to a nails inc. polish but not a dupe. I'm very attracted to purple glitter at the moment, not sure why... but I'm not complaining.

Milani FX Jewel Lavender

I've been eyeing some of the new Milani FX Jewel polishes lately, but haven't had the stomach to pay almost $6 each at CVS. But then! CVS decided to have a BOGO1/2 on all Milani products! Woohooooo, so I decided to be a creep and scope out the polishes that I wanted before the actual sale started.

Milani FX Jewel in Lavender over China Glaze Smoke and Ashes (I was too lazy to remove it, good thing it's a black background!) I believe this is one coat on pointer, two coats on middle and so on and so forth. It doesn't look like much a difference though. This is lavender larger hex glitter and smaller round glitter in a clear base. You can click the picture to enlarge it, and if the glitter looks a little blue that's just my camera. It's completely lavender in person.

I really love the color of it, and the formula is good. The glitter lies flat and dries pretty quickly. Not much more you can ask for from a glitter!

Zoya's Earth Day Nail Polish Exchange!

Trade in your old polishes for new ones from Zoya!

Here’s all you need to do!

1.    Go to www.zoya.com, pick out the polishes you would like and add them to your cart. You must select at
least 6 and no more than 24 bottles of polish (Salons accounts minimum 12 maximum 48 bottles).
2.    Apply the code: EARTHZOYA2012
3.    Your order value will be adjusted to reflect a 50% discount (we use these funds to properly dispose of
       the old nail polish).
4.    Review and SUBMIT your order!

Then you can ship back your old polishes (an amount up to the amount you ordered). Here's how:

Once you get your order (Here is where the exchanging* happens)…

1.    Ship back the equivalent number of bottles to the ones you received to the return address below
(ie. If you got 6 bottles of Zoya – you would send us up to 6 NON-ZOYA polishes). Please check with
your carrier on the proper way to ship nail polish.

 2.    Include a copy of your order.

Just one more important thing, you cannot send back any Zoya, Qtica or Nocti polishes. Only brands other than Zoya brands apply.

Of course, I thought about doing this, but there are really only 3 Zoya polishes that I want at the moment *sighs*

Tips for acne prone skin!

Use products that are for your skin type
Avoid using products for dry skin because they have extra moisture that may clog your pores even more. Of course if you do have dry skin then you can use these products.

Be careful when choosing products
Read the labels and check if they say things like " non-acnegenoc", "non-pore clogging" or "oil-free".

Try makeup that helps stop acne
Some makeup products come with ingredients to help fight acne, such as , salicylic acid.

Use mineral makeup
Mineral makeup is not as heavy and is pure and free from perservatives, therefore, not clogging your pores.

Concealer
When applying concealer use a small synthetic brush because it is more sanitary and easier to clean. You can apply some concealer on after your foundation to have better coverage.

Always wash your face before bed!
Make sure you remove your makeup before going to bed. Use a cleanser that contains glycolic acid. However, don't scrub too harshly because they can worsen your breakouts and irritate them.

China Glaze Smoke and Ashes

So I finally found the elusive Smoke and Ashes! The last one in the display!

Smoke and Ashes, two coats. It is a black base with green and blue shimmer (click the pictures to enlarge them). As most everyone already knows, this one represents District 12 which is coal. The two main characters are from this district aka why this was the first polish to sell out and stay sold out for almost a month.

The formula on this was awesome. I was pretty surprised about it actually. It pretty much completely opaque in one coat, but I did two because my coats weren't all that even. But one good even coat will do it. Dry time was also awesome, by the time I finished painting all my nails, my first hand was already dry.

You can definitely see the shimmer better in person, it's always hard to capture shimmer that's set in a dark base on camera. But, I love any kind of black with cool colored shimmer so this was a no-brainer for me. Had to have it, as did most other people lol

Seche Vite vs. Essie Good To Go

About a month ago, a friend of mine and I were talking about top coats and she told me how much she loved Essie Good To Go, so I naturally had to try it out. I've been using it in comparison to Seche Vite for a little over a week now and here are my findings!

Seche Vite, I swear by it.

Essie Good To Go, a new love of mine.

In terms of formula, Seche Vite starts out a nice texture but then tends to get pretty thick after it's opened, and when that happens there is more of a chance the polish getting bubbly. Last time I used it, my thumb was so bubbly I could not take it. I haven't had anything like this happen with G2G as of yet. It hasn't gotten any thicker than when I opened the bottle, but I'll be monitoring that since it's a new bottle.

In terms of dry time, they are both quick dry top coat so they dry super fast. After dry, they are both super glossy and create a hard protective layer. You don't have to wait for your polish o be dry to add a top coat, but it does take a little longer to dry that way, I like to let my polish at least set before adding a top coat, to speed it up. I didn't find a difference in dry time when base polish was wet vs dry.

Both build up around the neck of the bottle, but Seche gets thick and makes it a little difficult to fully close the bottle sometimes, while G2G is thinner and the polish chips off the neck.

In terms of discoloration, I haven't had any problems with either top coat discoloring polishes. Usually top coats intensify the color and make it brighter and glossier. Occasionally white polish can get a little discolored over time, even with a top coat, I've had this happen with Seche but it's not that drastic or noticeable. I've tested both on white and there was no immediate discoloration, but I assume that's just the nature of white polish.. just like white clothes lol But I'm still testing this out.

Mac lipstick and brush review

MAC Lipstick
Shade: Impassioned
$14.50

I saw this lipstick when I went to buy some foudations and other Mac product I needed. Immedialtely I caught my attention, so I just had to buy it.

Mac describes it as "amped up fuchsia" however, fuchsia has more of a blue undertone and is cool. Impassioned seems a bit warmer and more of an orangy pink. It is pretty bright, and the pictures don't do the color any justice, looks way better in person. The color itself if opaque and it's one of the MAC Amplified creme lipsticks.

Mac 129 brush Powder/Blush Brush
$34.00
Mac's description
"All-purpose for blush or face powder. This brush is particularly good for blush application. The fibers are soft and form a full, rounded shape. M·A·C professional brushes are hand-sculpted and assembled using the finest quality materials. They feature wood handles and nickel-plated brass ferrules"

This brush has a dome shape. This is a good brush to apply blush or bronzer. I really like the size and shape of the brush because it is big enough to use as powder brush but also small enough for blush/bronzer or even to apply highlight.

I bought a few other products, but I will not be reviewing them because they are just replacements and I did reviews on them already (Fix+ spray, Fluideline, and Pro long wear liquid foundation)
